Instead of buying another GPU month ago I’ve chosen other thing:

Well, when I was buying guitar I just couldn’t resist to buy tambourine. I’m not sure about English speaking community but in Russian tambourine and IT are very closely related .

And, yes, 6990 is going to be released soon but from first sights it won’t be anything revolutionary (except for power usage, 450W!) — good ol’ 5970 is still an awesome option, by first estimation 6990 will be just about 15-20% faster than 5970.

But, anyway, who cares about GPUs, my next aim are… DRUMS!

eg shocks accelerate key because numbers are 15 digits in the hash containing all at sl3
eg
having the hash together a software I agreed only agree in 000000000000000 to 999999999999999

  No, doubt I’ll see any of 6990s around me in nearest month for tests. Anyway 6990 won’t be a breakthrough — about 10B MD5, 50K Office 07 p/s. In average 15-20% faster than 5970 while eating 25% more power.

  Not with Windows, drivers limited to 4 GPU cores == 2×5970. With Linux it’s possible to utilize 8x cores.

      Currently even next Windows version under question, so doubt there’ll be anything for Linux in nearest months. If you’re running Linux better check out whitepixel and oclHashcat. Also I guess it won’t be easy way to use wine with GPGPU but tests required to say for sure.

  No major optimization possible. My latest (not available in public) version is about 20-25% faster than current ighashgpu and looking at oclHashcat’s results Atom also got performance numbers around this. So 2.8-3.0B for single 5970 is kinda final value, may be +several more percents possible but it won’t change overall things.

  The problem of buying an ATI 5970 is very high $ $ $ in hand, the ATI HD6990 is cheaper in price.

  Couple of months ago it wasn’t possible to run more than 4 GPU cores (== 2×5970) under Windows and I really really doubt (looking at AMD’s activity in this area) that it was fixed. They claiming though that upcoming AMD APP SDK 2.4 will finally solve problems with dual-GPU cards (like 5970, 6990) which persists for a year now. Well, they claiming a lot of things but improvements usually not that significant as AMD says. Anyway, will see soon.
  And, yes, 6990 is good option for brute-force but it’ll require nice PSU and some changes in program code.

  2×5970, long enough case to fit these 31cm long cards and with proper cooling, PSU enough to feed them (750W+), that’s the only important parts of system. Everything else isn’t that matters.

  5970 2Gb because amount of onboard memory means nothing for brute-forcing and so you’ll just overpay for 2Gb extra RAM which you’ll never use.

Many, many years ago, I took lessons to play the guitar. It did not turn out well. The tambourine would have been a better choice. It’s fun and learned more easily. I’ve lately thought of taking up the triangle. For those unfamiliar with American Bluegrass or Cajun music, the traingle is just what its name suggests: a metal triangle that you strike with a metal rod in time with the music.

Desde hace algunas semanas he estado investigando sobre el tema de desbloqueo de los nokias sl3 y me gustaría felicitarlo por el gran trabajo que ha desarrollado, pues el software de ighashgpu es en realidad una maravilla, quisiera hacerle una pregunta, de la respuesta que devuelve el software que son 15 parejas de numeros por ejemplo HEX: 01 03 01 07 02 05 06 04 06 01 08 09 08 03 04 habra forma de calcular solo los ultimos 4 numeros por ejemplo 09 08 03 04. Pues de ser posible supongo que pudieramos obtener esos ultimos # en menor tiempo.

  Well, if you’re know last 4 digits than it obviously will speed-up the process a lot. But as I can understand there no easy prediction possible and locking date has no correlation with unlocking code. Otherwise the whole unlocking process will be trivialized.

  As I’ve already answered to another person — it can be anything including but not limited to wrong input data generation and overheating. I’m not supporting ighashgpu working in conjunction with other programs, try contact their authors.

  68xx & 69xx GPUs aren’t supported at all by latest ighashgpu. And I doubt it’ll be supported by public version of ighashgpu in any nearest future.

  There were no tests done for 6990 & SHA-1 hashes. For single MD5 6990 shows around 9.4B (which is ~1B lower than my expectations).

  Not supporting SHA-1 of course, only single MD4/MD5. I’ve already got first results for single MD5 and 6990 and they aren’t looking too good — 6990 being faster than 5970 but by about 10% slower than I was expecting.
  Looks like I’ll need to perform some tests by my own…

  SL3 world already moved on.
  There are now optimized solutions available and as well Atom released OclHashCat lite wich is about 20% faster then ighashgpu for the SL3 bruteforce.
  So now you can relax about the sl3 guys the pressure is finished
