And yet again I’ve got bored with RAR Password Recovery. Every time I thought I’m almost done — boom, more problems arrive. Mainly from ATI GPU’s side. Simply ridiculous that the only Catalyst version able to produce good code for RAR kernels is still an year old v9.9 one.

Anyway, I’ve decided to relax a bit by switching to another problem. As PBKDF2 was implemented long time ago (for OpenOffice & WinZip/AES) and it’s main part of WPA-PSK protection I’ve decided to go into this direction and:

not bad for first version and single 5970 system I guess. As it’s full WPA handshake validation, speed is a bit lower than it should be for PMK generation only (more details about PMK generation and WPA overall is here). Although there still some places to optimize.

Anyone knows where to get large number of real WPA handshakes with matching passwords to test things out?

  The more the better. Though looking at feedback it looks like WPA isn’t that interesting thing for people around .

  Well, it’s more like “very annoyed” than “bored” .
  Currently I’m busy with classic zip encryption, no GPU version (yet at least) but it’s like “back to the origins” — it was the first password cracker I wrote ~12 years ago. Still funny.
  After that I’m planning to switch back to RAR and finally release it in some way.

Is it possible to add this function:
Each character can only be used once. (By default using the command)
The selected character can be used twice or more. (Additional command?)
I think that it would significantly reduce the number of combinations.
Of course, it would be useful if one knows the characters used in passwords (and their repetition).

Another command that would restrict the number of consecutive repeated characters (eg AABCCC 2 can be, and can not be AAABCC).

  First version won’t contain any special attacks like you’ve described. May be I’ll some advanced brute-forcing rules later.

Did you manage to fix that problem with rargpu that was overusing the GPU and caused video lags? Also, are you going to implement multi-core cpu on it?

  Video lags issues will be solved in the same way as it done with AccentOPR, you can open GPU Configuration dialog there and you’ll be able to choose between performance vs no video lag with slider.
  CPU support (including multicores) also planned.
